| Herd History Thank you for your interest in the Sahara Hills Nubians. The herd is located 45 miles west of Atlanta and 11 miles east of the Alabama line. This venture all started back in 1988 with 2 registered nubian does. I have since recently changed my herdname to Sahara Hills. I changed it in order to have my herd named after one of the old does. Her name was Sahara and she was an unforgetable doe with her one of a kind personality and great conformation. I had to say goodbye to Sahara 2yrs ago at the age of 8, but she still lives on with her two sons that I currently own and one that I have semen from. Over the years I have strived to breed big structurally sound nubians with strong mammary systems. These animals have not been shown very much as I have had other obligations in the industry. I became an ADGA judge several years ago leaving me little time to show my own animals. My animals come from Kismet, Kastdemur and 4D's lineage. I would like to thank Debbie Snyder of 4D's nubians for allowing me to bring in some of her best genetics. I would also like to put out a very special thanks to Gayle Major of Thunderwood, Mickey Nelson of Misty Hollow and Jean Lucas of Kismet for being such good life long friends. They have all inspired me to stay with this and keep moving forward. I would also like to mention Mark Stevens of Pine Springs LaManchas. Mark moved his LaMancha herd to Georgia in 2006. They continue to wow me everyday as I look at these great animals. Thanks to Mark and all of my other goat friends for all that you do to help make this venture possible. Please feel free to contact me at any time if you have questions about the animals or just want to talk goats. I love goat talk! ================================================ Herd Health Herd Health is very important here at Sahara Hills. I feel that these animals will never reach their full potential unless managed properly regardless of pedigree. The animals are tested for CAE every year just before they kid. These does have all tested negative from Washington State University. Kids are housed and raised separately from their dams and are kept on a coccidia and worming program. Each and every animal is given CD&T every year along with Bose. They are on a strict worming and coccidia program. This is essential here in the south in order to keep these animals in shape and reaching their full potential. A good quality alfalfa is shipped in from the mid west and given free choice along with limited grain. I use different kinds of minerals but some sort of mineral is available to them at all times. ================================================ Sales A $50.00 deposit will hold a kid. I do however only offer a few doe kids in the spring as I do like to keep most of them and freshen them. I will be offering a few quality milkers in the spring along with a select few bucklings. I never offer a buck kid for sale that I would not use in my own breeding program. Please feel free to contact me with any questions about availability. ==================================================== |
